About the teacher...

Lang Schwartzwald at his desk

Lang Schwartzwald has been working in various technology-related jobs for around 20 years.   First starting as a graphic designer using Illustrator and Photoshop to produce graphics for cars, signs and marketing campaigns.  From there he transitioned to web development creating websites as a freelancer and subcontractor for various firms. Working in web development sharpened his computer coding skills as he dived into projects that required heavy use of Javascript, SQL, PHP and database development.  Before moving to teach full-time Lang was contracted as an experimental Javascript developer for Microsoft and completed a database architecture project that managed budgets and finances for Pacific University.

Lang has always had a passion for teaching and cognitive development.   He holds a Masters of Arts in Teaching and a Bachelors in Studio Arts.  He strongly believes in using critical thinking skills in his project-based classes and emphasizes the need to teach digital literacy.
